Wow. Just Wow.

Reports are that the Senate immigration bill contains an interesting job provision requiring approval of the DHS for a JOB.
There is also a frightening run down of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 and some recent executive directive type documents that rearrange national emergency from FEMA to the DHS headed by the president at this blog. I suppose that's sorta needed if your gonna give FEMA to yur Polo buddies.
Meanwhile The IndependentIndependent reports our government continues the effort to raise the price of those cheap Chinese goods that we've all come to depend on, because you just can't buy some things (ahhemm, computers, I could live without all the plastic.) made in America these days. I wish I understood how to make a Yaun play....
In cased you missed it there was a little snafu with the JD and the NSA domestic surveillance program that present AG Gonzales testified about recently. If the best the far left can do is: It may be bigger than previously thought, I'm beginning to think that politics needs a third category: sane. I just assumed back when it was Carnivore that they just created a database with enough entries for the entire planet + alias, that would grow exponentially, leave the 300000k Americans blank, then access a databank on foreign soil if needed to check up on the motel housekeepers trying to form a union....

Presidential Politics

Well, Well, Well, I missed all of the debates. I certainly caught bits and pieces from the web. I think it's pretty telling that only ~40,000 people voted in the first repub debate online poll not that it really matters until a little closer to the primaries. The second was text message only.?.
The Morons turned out, good for them, although I think that perhaps they follow their leaders a bit too blindly if you look at the recent ~20% dip in support for the war after a head mucky muck wrote a letter questioning just the ends, the profit if you will, of any such large scale conflict. Mitt Romney is the Moron candidate and I do believe won the first debate online poll with 29%. I noticed something when I was looking into the Dr. Laura flap. Hinting to Romney founding Bain Capital, a private equity firm with connections which joined with another group to buy Clear Channel and Dunkin' Dough nuts with the Carlyle Group and just took Burger King public. If I were that rich, I don't think I'd want the headache of presidency.....
Rudy Giuliani might not like the 9/11 commissions assessment of our situation, but then again he seems to be really in touch with Saudi Arabia and well Fox News as they are both clients of his law firm, any way you can read.
Ron Paul seems to keep coming under attack for the John Birch Society affiliation by those that are looking for dirt.
Mike Gravel had an interview that well sounds a little crazy to me because I think corporations have far too much power as it is....

That Old Time Knowledge

These days I often find myself wondering about which things were actually easier before technology. For instance, I know a lady that washes clothes in a bucket with a plunger, I thought about her as I spent a few hours rewiring our Whirlpool. I laugh that our little town basically shuts down without the credit card machines, most cashiers don't even remember the swipe machines. I wonder what people used for baby wipes before the miracles of Huggies with Shea Butter. I recently couldn't think of non sequitur given the definition, so the internet to the rescue. The page itself reminds me of the internet just 8 or 9 years ago. I miss plain text pages, in fact the pages I frequent tend not to have moving pictures. There's another page that I lost for a long time. Botanical has added some content but maintains a 1900ish book on medicinal herbs, preparations, etc.

Healing

Having at least tried to understand the premise of many "non traditional modern" healing modalities, I thought I'd run down what I do health wise right now. There's 3-4hr/week of ultimate; up to 3.5hr/wk of footbag; B, C, CaMgZn, Cranactive, and I have a meditation that's probably as regular as anything else unless footbag maxes out at .5hr/day. My diet is quite irregular as I try to pass on wheat. I'd do better to take Kefir as it increases my food tolerance as well as digestion, and overall feeling of well being. I have other things to expound upon such as Kombucha, homeopathy, naturopathy, chiropracty, (kineseology), accupuncture, accupressure, and others I'm sure. I'd also like to mention that I saw a guided meditation on public access from the Boulder(CO) Public Library. It was simple, but the idea of now being able to dissemiate even just centering guided meditations over Youtube, I mean Google Video and having a webpage link library seems incredibly powerful....

Sodium Benzoate

Well I knew that food dyes were derivatives of coal and could contain or be carcinogenic (organic) molecules. But NaC7H5O2 is in everything, Sodium Benzoate is benzene with a handle, from a structural chemical point of view.

Dick Durbin, Mike Gravel and Sibel Edmonds: When Silence is Treason

Hate to post Daily Kos in my third post, but here are three names you should know about. Ron Paul is the third, unless you have the opportunity to vote against Durbin(D-IL). I don't recall any Sibel Edmonds/Ron Paul news however. Although the google search with those two names pulls up a raft of interesting sites: more S.E. than I know about.

Started a blog

I was thinking I would start a blog so that I could find interesting articles and links I've read in the past. In an effort to organize my bookmarks such that I have a place to refer people to. Additionally, I would like to have a bibliography of books that have affected my worldview. I'd also like to share projects akin to tdiclub's step by step maintainence DIYs.....
